Battlehawks set attendance record, win in home-opener ST. LOUIS - More than 38,000 football fans came downtown Sunday to watch and celebrate the return of the St. Louis Battlehawks. The team responded to that outpouring of support with a 24-11 victory over the Arlington Renegades.Quarterback A.J. McCarron completed 20 of his 27 passes for 214 yards, with two touchdowns and an interception. Running back Brian Hill had 115 all-purpose yards, including a 15-yard touchdown run in the third quarter.The Battlehawks put the first points on the board with 5:46 left in the first quarter, behind Donny Hageman's 28-yard field. LOUIS – As people turned their clocks forward this weekend, the St. Louis Fire Department was helping people in the city check their smoke alarms and install new ones."I went by the department this morning and inquired about the smoke detectors because I saw it on the news this morning," said James Dotson Jr, who lives in the Jeff-Vander-Lou neighborhood.The STLFD has installed hundreds of smoke alarms over the weekend. It's all part of the Sound the Alarm campaign. Firefighters also went door-to-door, making sure people have an escape plan in case they ever have a fire at their home. GPS-enabled headphones help deputies bust thief in San Bernardino County A 34-year-old Chino Hills man was arrested Sunday after stealing a backpack that contained GPS enabled headphones that led deputies to his location, authorities announced.  Deputies with the San Bernardino Sheriff’s Department responded to the 5400 block of Wild Sage Place in Chino Hills Sunday morning at around 8:40 a.m. on reports of a vehicle burglary.  During the investigation, deputies recovered video surveillance that captured the suspect, identified as Terrall Meisenheimer, break into the victim’s vehicle.  “The suspect stole the victim’s backpack, which contained miscellaneous items and headphones equipped with GPS tracking technology,” a sheriff’s department news release stated.  Using the GPS tracking, the victim was able to pinpoint the location of the headphones at a business parking lot on Mountain Avenue in Chino, where deputies found the 34-year-old suspect in possession of the stolen property.  Meisenheimer was arrested for vehicle burglary. ...
